Ahh, brisk autumn mornings…sun glistening through beads of dew, gentle offshore winds and throbbing groundswells. All the ingredients an Aussie surfer associates with hell waves. Margs was pumping all weekend with a solid 4m swell pounding the south west on Friday, tapering off to 2.5m by Sunday. There were some great waves at the bays and points on Friday arvo with light southerlies.
HOLY BUTTERBALLS! Saturday morning dawned with clean 8-12 footers (that’s 3-4 times over head kids) at exposed reefs, yeeeha. A beachbreak south of Margs was serving up some clean chunks (I managed to break a brand new board out there dangit) until the southerly came in at lunchtime, so bays and points were the pick again in the arvo.
Sunday was a glorious 4-6ft at Margaret River Mainbreak…we hit another beachbreak south of Margs which was really, really, really good. Perfect A-frame barrels. O and Walleh both got smokers, the lucky dogs. Walleh was driving through a no-hands backhand barrel for ages before just getting clipped by the lip as it spat into the channel, sponno stuff. I managed to snap another board after 4hrs in the water shooting and surfing, grrr. An exy weekend.
Apparently the Red Hot Chilli Peppers gigs in Sydney were off the hook last week…gags!<
I hope y'all had a mint weekend. Next weekend is looking the goods again so stay tuned...
