Hmm, northerly winds and 2m of swell floating around….”Rotto!” Well unfortunately on Saturday morning half of Perth had the same idea. The place was like Waterworld with jetskis and boats turbulating all over the south side of the island. For those of you who aren’t from WA, Rottnest is a small island about 20km west of Fremantle (Perth’s main port) which serves as a watery playground for Sandgropers.
We managed to find some relief from the crowds at a lesser known spot further around the island with some long, chunky walls up for grabs. We thought we’d wait for things to quieten down a bit before checking the more crowded spots later in the afternoon. It was worth the wait…the righthander we’d been eyeing off in the morning had emptied out and perfect little wedges were still jacking up and winding down the reef.
Not much to report for Sunday, moderate westerly winds and a sprinkling of swell - a bit of a let down compared to Saturday but there were waves to be had in the metro area if you were keen.
Slayer sure did wail on Thursday night. Highlights include: O hanging from the rafters with one arm whilst devil banging at the mosh with the other \m/, having bourbons with the Slayer bogans and of course Slayer anthems, Raining Blood and Angel of Death. It was hell
Next weekend is looking good with easterlies forecast and some swell so there should be waves all around our big brown state. Rowdy!
Have a good week!
