The stormy, onshore weather has finally abated! The last few days have seen some epic surf up and down the west coast of WA with light offshore winds and plenty of swell. Even Perth has had some good waves…
Monday saw huge 5m, long period chunks of Indian Ocean pound the Margaret River coast. It was death or glory at one rare reef break where local boys, Brett Hardy and Rohan Annersley stole the show with their fearless charging, making the rest of us look a bit silly in the process.
There was still plenty of swell hanging around after “Mega Monday” with reefs from Cape Leeuwin to Cape Naturaliste lighting up…
The beachies south of Margs have been firing with the dropping swell…one little sandbank in particular was pumping, doing it’s best impression of Kirra. Tom Innes was in the neighbourhood, alternately stalling and weaving his way through the roomy toobs.
It’s been cold as a witch’s tetas in the water lately. John and the boys at SOS Surf in Freo hooked me up with a O’Neill Psycho2 steamer a couple of weeks back to help me battle the cold. Great wetsuits, really flexy and warm. SOS is keen to look after ww subscribers, so if you need a new wetsuit head down there and mention the weekend warrior for 20% off any wetsuit in the shop. Bargain! Go to the SOS Surf website for details.
Looks like some sketchy winds coming this weekend so might have to head out of town to get anything quality. Have a great weekend.

Hey Hugh, Tanya here (of SKM fame!)
Photos and site look amazing. I’m living in Israel at the moment and spending alot more time on my photography. Was puddling around and remembered you were just getting your site up and running when you left so thought I’d check it out.
Hope you’re well,
