Last weekend was pretty ordinary for surf in Sou’ West WA so I’ve thrown together some b-sides from my recent Mentawai trip.

One of the more spectacular sessions of the trip went down at Rifles, in the Playgrounds region of the islands. Cross shore Rifles provided some good long walls and whack-able sections for the pro boys to smack!

The odd barrel presented itself too. Here’s well known east coast shaper, Al Byrne’s son getting shacked in front of the pack.

He got a nice long tube on that one, wave of the day.

We copped a lot of southerly winds during our two weeks in the islands but we still got some good stuff. There are so many quality waves in the region, you’re bound to score somewhere!

It was a relief to get some glassy conditions when little localised storms blew through, ironically generating calm conditions.
