“Yeww, long weekend!” With a couple of extra days up our sleeve it was a pretty easy decision to head north; especially with SE winds and a handy little swell on the radar.

After a hefty drive we pulled into the car park on Friday arvo to find long Indian Ocean born lines winding their way down the point. It didn’t take us long to pull on our wetties and get out there after several hours on the road.

The local groms were killing it; pulling into spacious tubes, washing up on the ledge then running back around to the take off spot for more.

My brother, Owen Davis oscillates between the ocean and the mountains. If he’s not surfing or climbing (mountains, ice, rock, whatever) then you can guarantee he’ll be thinking about it. Sunday arvo was blown out and small so we headed inland to a nearby gorge. O was dead set on spidermanning his way up a speccy overhung route. The rest of us were content sitting this one out, taking in the beautiful surrounds and hooting as he made short work of the cliff.

The swell picked up again for Monday morning. The point looked like the frame of a Japanese fan with lines wrapping their way into the bay. All the local groms were out in force again.

Heading home after such a high calibre weekend is never easy but watching the sun slowly disappear over the West Oz horizon, saturating the beautiful landscape with her golden rays took a bit of the pain away…especially when accompanied by a couple of cheeky tins.

This weekend is shaping up nicely for surf in WA. Beautiful weather, a bit of swell kicking around and good winds. I hope you get some waves, enjoy!
