While the top 45 duked it out at the Bells WCT event over at Torquay, Sandgropers embarked upon their annual Easter pilgrimage to Margaret River to chase some sun and surf of their own. The roads were chockers on the way down and back as expected. I’m telling ya, the Mandurah bypass is going to be a welcome relief as WA’s boom-time population continues to explode. Main Roads projects aside, the waves were good all weekend.
Heaps of spots were working so the Easter crowds were nicely spread out between breaks. Good Friday was just an epic day with beautiful weather and clean, fun waves all up and down the Margs coast.
Saturday was a bit ordinary but Huey answered back on Easter Sunday with a big spike in the swell and clean SE winds. Margs was pumping!
North Point put on a beautiful backlit show at sunset with a few honkers breaking all the way through to the inside bowl.
The swell dropped back on Monday, but there were still plenty of bumps around to top up everyone’s wave quotas before heading back to the big smoke.
It’s looking pretty good again this weekend with 1.5-2.0m of cold, hard ground swell and offshore winds forecast. I’ll be over on the Gold Coast though so stay tuned for the ww >> goldy transmissions.
Good luck to the Ozzie boys at Bells! Go TB!!!
