The Margaret River region has been pumping the last few days with light offshore winds and lashings of swell. Crew who were down for the long weekend would have scored plenty of good waves, especially on Sunday and Monday.
The Box was pumping on Monday thanks to a powerful west groundswell and light ENE winds. The west in the swell gave the surfers a peaky entry into the sets, allowing them to take off early before things went haywire on the shallow ledge.
WCT surfer, Jay “Bottle” Thompson was dominating the session getting some deep, clean, slabbing tubes.
The boogers always get their quota out here.
The Box is HEAVY. I was sitting on my board shooting from the channel when a big wide one came through. I had to bail my board and swim under it but when I surfaced my board was in two bits. How’s that?! I snap my board shooting The Box from the channel! Raw deal.
More tales from the tube coming soon…
